Many different talents are required to hold a NOAH conference, and YOU might have what it takes to be the perfect volunteer. Take a look at these volunteer opportunities and please consider helping to make NOAH magic!

Volunteer Opportunities

Pre Conference Volunteer Opportunities

  • Attendee Packet Preparation
    • With supervision, volunteers will prepare conference attendee packets, including assembling name badges and conference folders. This clerical work requires willingness to follow instructions, attention to detail and teamwork. 
  • Attendee Check-in
    • Conference attendee check in volunteers distribute conference folders to attendees. This is a great way to see lots of people as they arrive for the conference!
  • Greeter
    • NOAH greeters welcome conference attendees and point them in the right direction. Volunteer greeters should be outgoing types. The greeter’s job is to smooth the way for those who have been traveling and may need a little help navigating in a strange environment.
  • Vendor/Exhibitor Assistance
    • Assist vendor/exhibitor coordinator with onsite vendor relations.


Conference Volunteer Opportunities

  • Session Moderator
    • Each conference session needs a person to ensure things move smoothly. Session moderators introduce and thank the presenter, distribute and collect session evaluations, record the number of people attending the session. Session moderators will be asked to attend a short training session on Thursday.
  • Silent Auction
    • Silent auction volunteers accept, catalog and prepare donated items for display at various times. We also need volunteers to set up the silent auction and to help when the auction closes.
  • Raffle Ticket Sales
    • Raffle volunteers sell tickets.
  • Conference Information Station
    • Provide onsite logistics information to attendees. 
  • “Box Office” Volunteer
    • Support conference operations with a variety of tasks including t-shirt sales, answering schedule questions, running errands, etc. 
  • AV Assistance
    • Provide in session assistance to presenters with technology needs.
  • Volunteer Videographer
    • Monitor session recordings under the supervision of the AV Coordinators. 
  • Volunteer Table
    • Volunteer table staff will help the NOAH volunteer coordinator in two-hours shifts from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM on Friday and Saturday.


Preschool Volunteer Opportunities (Rising Stars)

* Volunteers who sign up to be StarGazers and follow through with the commitment of volunteering for both Friday and Saturday will be eligible for a registration fee rebate.

  • StarGazer Lead*
    • Age 21+
    • Education in Early Childhood or related field OR experience in working with groups of young children. StarGazer Leads will care for children 6 months – 5 years old. Under the direction of the Program Coordinators, they will work with one group of children throughout the entire Preschool Program, ensuring their safety and well being. Room Leads will supervise volunteers assigned to them and with materials provided, coordinate participation in programming as their assigned children rotate through activities in various spaces.
  • StarGazer Assistant*
    • Age 18+
    • Experience in working with groups of young children.  StarGazers will care for children 6 months – 5 years old.  Under the direction of the Room Lead/Program Coordinators, they will participate in programming, engage, guide and ensure the safety of children taking part in conference activities.
  • Check In
    • Volunteers will check children in as they are dropped off.
  • Check Out
    • Volunteers will check children out as they are picked up.
  • Setup Room
    • Help unpack and setup room supplies.
  • Breakdown Room
    • Help breakdown and pack up room supplies.


Elementary Volunteer Opportunities (Super Stars)

* Volunteers who sign up to be Crew Leaders, Assistant Crew Leaders or Junior Leaders and follow through with the commitment of volunteering for both Friday and Saturday will be eligible for a registration fee rebate.

  • Crew Leader*
    •   Age 21+
    • Will volunteer with one  group of children throughout the entire kids’ conference. Attendees will be divided into three groups consisting of two grades per group, based on which grade the child will be entering in the Fall.  Crew Leaders will supervise Assistant Crew Leaders and groups while participating in programming as children rotate through  activities in various spaces during the Kids’ conference. They will supervise, coordinate, and ensure the safety of  groups and Assistant Crew Leaders. Each Crew Leader will need to manage and monitor children and staff and respond to incidents, problems or accidents.  They will  follow the direction of the  Program Coordinator sharing all necessary information on incidents, problems or accidents.  Leaders may, with materials provided, facilitate short activities with their teams during  the  day. This position requires a significant commitment of time on Friday and Saturday.  Preference will be given to volunteers that sign up for both days. There is also a Thursday evening team orientation and  welcome session with parents that must be attended.  
  • Assistant Crew Leader*
    • Age 18+ and not eligible for Kids Conference)
    • Assistant Crew Leaders will be scheduled to participate with one  group of children throughout the entire kids’ conference. Attendees will be divided into three groups consisting of two grades per group, based on which grade the child will be entering in the Fall.  Groups will rotate through a number of activities in various spaces during the Kids’ conference.  Assistant Crew Leaders will participate in programming, engage, guide and  ensure the safety of children taking part in conference activities. They will  follow the direction of their Crew Leader and the Program Coordinator. This position requires a significant commitment of time Friday and Saturday.   Preference will be given to volunteers that sign up for both days.  There is also a Thursday evening team orientation and  welcome session with parents that must be attended.
  • Junior Leader*
    • High school students 15 years of age or older, eligible to work with participants ages 6-12
    • Junior Leaders will usually be scheduled with one  group of children throughout the entire kids’ conference. Attendees will be divided into three groups consisting of two grades per group, based on which grade the child will be entering in the Fall.  Groups will rotate through a number of activities in various spaces during the Kids’ conference. Junior Leaders will actively participate in all programming with the group.  This position requires a significant commitment of time Friday and Saturday. Preference will be given to those  that are able to commit to volunteering on Friday and Saturday.  There is also a Thursday evening team orientation and  welcome session with parents that must be attended.
  • Lunch Chaperone
    • Volunteers will accompany 5th & 6th graders on a walking excursion for lunch on Saturday.  Volunteers will be responsible for a small group of children, taking them to lunch, assisting them in ordering and paying if needed.  All lunch chaperones will receive funds to cover their own lunch.
  • Check In
    • Volunteers will assist with the check in process. Help will include confirming paperwork, ensuring attendees have name lanyards and escorting children to their assigned rooms.
  • Check Out
    • Volunteers will assist with the check out process, ensuring each child is signed out by a parent/caregiver.


Teens (Producers) & Tweens (Directors) Volunteer Opportunities

* Volunteers who sign up to be Team Leaders or Assistant Team Leaders and follow through with the commitment of volunteering for both Friday and Saturday will be eligible for a registration fee rebate.

  • Team Leader*
    • Age 21+
    • Team Leaders will volunteer with a group of 10-12 children throughout the entire kids’ conference. Groups will be composed of TWEENS (7-9th grades) or TEENS (10th-12th grades), based on which grade the child will be entering in the Fall.  Team Leaders will accompany their group to all Teens & Tweens programming on Friday & Saturday during the kids’ conference, including off-site excursions. In addition, there is a Thursday evening team orientation and welcome session with parents that leaders will attend. Team Leaders will supervise Assistant Team Leaders and report to the Teens & Tweens Program Coordinator. They will be responsible for supervising and ensuring the safety of their assigned group and Assistant Team Leader.  They will manage and monitor children and staff and respond to incidents, problems, or accidents, providing all necessary information to the Program Coordinator and responding as directed. Leaders may, with materials provided, facilitate short activities with their teams during the day. Team Leaders require a significant commitment of time Friday and Saturday. 
  • Assistant Team Leader*
    • Age 18+ and not eligible for Kids Conference
    • Assistant Team Leaders will be scheduled to participate with a group of 10-12 children during the kids’ conference. Groups will be composed of TWEENS (7-9th grades) or TEENS ( & 10-12th grades), based on which grade the child will be entering in the Fall. Assistant Team Leaders will accompany their group to select programming on Friday & Saturday during the kids’ conference, including off-site excursions. They will engage, guide and ensure the safety of children taking part in conference activities, under the direction of their Team Leader and the Program Coordinator. In addition, there is a Thursday evening team orientation and welcome session with parents that leaders will attend. Assistant Team Leaders require a moderate commitment of time Friday and Saturday. 
  • T-Shirt Pick-up/Check in
    • Assist with handing out materials and t-shirts. 
  • Teen Room Coordinator
    • Age 21+
    • Coordinate Teen Room Monitors to cover the Teen Room Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night, to ensure that teens have a safe place to gather apart from the rest of the conference. This includes working with the Teens & Tweens Program Coordinator to plan games and activities for the teen room, and setting these up each night prior to opening the teen room. The Teen Room Coordinator will meet with Teen Room Monitors at the beginning of each night to review expectations, and serve as an “on-call” support for teen room volunteers as needed while the Teen Room is open. 
  • Teen Room Monitor
  • Age 21+
  • Assist the Teen Room Coordinator to monitor the teen room to ensure that teens have a safe place to gather apart from the rest of the conference. 


Social Activity Volunteer Opportunities

*In order to sign up to lead an excursion, you must be a pre-paid registrant for that tour.

  • Nixon Library & Museum Excursion Lead*
    • duties include checking-in attendees as they board the bus, keeping a contact list, check in with contact at Nixon Presidential Library and Museum, check-in attendees as they board the bus to leave.
  • Downtown Disney Excursion Lead*
    • duties include checking-in attendees as they board the bus, keeping a contact list, meeting at the scavenger hunt start location, handing out scavenger hunt “swag” and checking in attendees as they board the bus to leave.
  • Anaheim Packing House Excursion Lead*
    • duties include checking in attendees as they board the bus, keeping a contact list, checking in attendees as they board the bus to leave.
  • Wine Tasting at Pali Wine Company*
    • duties include checking in attendees as they board the bus, keeping a contact list, checking in with Pali Wine Company contact, checking in attendees as they board the bus to leave.
  • Huntington Beach Excursion Lead*
    • duties include checking in attendees as they board the bus, keeping a contact list, checking in attendees as they board the bus to leave.
  • “Jasmine is a Star”
    • Theater Associate*
      • duties include checking in attendees as they board the bus, keeping a contact list, checking in with Frida Cinema contact, checking in attendees as they board the bus to leave.
    • Red Carpet “Paparazzi”*
      • taking photos for attendees
    • Concessions monitor*
      • monitor concession stand
    • Usher*
      • assist attendees in finding their seats in theater
  • Canvas Paint Studio Assistants
    • duties include set-up and clean up, changing out water to clean brushes, and assisting painters if needed.
  • Comedy Night Stage Hands
    • duties include greeting guests as they arrive, assisting with handling microphones, assisting game show host with audience volunteers.
  • LEGO Build
    • (Adults with Albinism) duties include monitoring room and assisting LEGO builders as needed.
  • Karaoke
    • (Adults, 18+) duties include monitoring the room and assisting karaoke singers as needed.
