Hi! My name is Katie and I am 21 years old.
I am a junior at the University of New Hampshire studying Human Development and Family Studies. I am also minoring in Special Education. My goal when I graduate is to become a kindergarten or special education teacher.
I am a cheerleader at UNH, and a captain for the 2017-2018 season. Every year, we go down to Daytona, FL and compete in the National Cheerleaders Association competition. We are an All-girl Division 1 Team, competing against major level teams from Texas and down south. Last year, we were named All Girl Division 1 2017 Collegiate National Champions. This was something I never thought I would do. Competing outside on the bandshell in the beaming sun is very difficult. It is extra hard for me to see my flyer when the sun is shining in my face and I have to squint. This is something that I am very proud to say that I did.
This year, we placed third in our division, within 1.5 points from first place. I am so honored and blessed to be a part of such an amazing program. I never thought I would be good enough to cheer in college, let alone become a National Champion.
When you put your mind to something you can truly succeed, no matter what challenges you face.
