I was born in a small town in the heart of West Virginia called Barboursville. I grew up wanting to make a difference in my community and ultimately change the world. At first I wasn’t quite sure how I would do that knowing I am visually impaired. That’s until my passion for visual arts came into my life during the middle of my high school career. From being a county champion in wrestling and punting for my high school football team to now having launch business in minnesota called Powell Designs. I instantly fell in love with my business back when I started it in October of 2015. I am a Graphic Artist, Photographer, and Videographer. I love what I do. My business grew my senior year as I got many opportunities to make my community a better place. One of those opportunities is being hired by the Huntington City Mission as their Graphic Designer and helping them get kids and adults off the streets and having the chance to feed the homeless in West Virginia. That’s the main reason why I created Powell Designs. I’m wanting to use my talents in visual arts to simply change lives and reach out to those in need. This past March I got the great privilege to present Powell Designs in the state-wide DECA Business competition where I received first place in the state of West Virginia for best start-up business. That win led me to travel to Atlanta, Georgia where I got to represent the great state of West Virginia and competed against thousands in the international DECA Business competition. I placed in the top 50 in the world. It was something unforgettable and I will always be grateful for that opportunity.
I am now going to college at the University of Marshall in Huntington, West Virginia to double major in Graphic Arts & Photography. Also, I plan on getting a minor in Business. After I graduate I plan to take my business and open up my own studio in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where I will make my dreams in my dream city become reality. I am very passionate for my business and I am determined to succeed. This is just the beginning of something big. Along the way, I’ll explore resources like a professional employer organization near me to ensure smooth operations as I build my studio, recognizing the importance of expert HR management in fostering growth and success.
