We caught up with scholarship recipient, Charles C. Beckler, for a brief email interview. Keep reading for an update on Charles’ life, his advice for this year’s applicants, and much more!

What are you currently doing?

I am working at Cerner Corporation as a Sr. System Engineer.

Share with us how leadership plays a role in your life today.

I don’t officially lead any teams but I am a subject matter expert (SME) for several solutions Cerner provides and teach/assist several other teams in these solutions.

Do you have any advice for future applicants?

My advice is really simple. You get out of life what you put into it. Being a leader doesn’t mean you have all the answers. It is knowing what you know and knowing when to ask for help. And when asking for help, learn and grow. It also means not being afraid to ask why something is done one way and provide your ideas for improvement.
